SOUL Care Gatherings us for a meal and conversation around Soul Care, led by Pete Kuiper and Joe Chambers of Crossroads Counseling.

Pete will be teaching on understanding the difference between our formal beliefs (what we say we believe in church) and our functional beliefs (how we live our lives on a day-to-day basis). These two beliefs are rarely in alignment and wreak havoc in our lives, especially in the COVID-19 world.

Joe will be sharing the importance of caring for your soul through Reclaiming Sabbath Time and the ancient art of ceasing while turning up the quiet to find rest for your soul.

What is Soul Care? Soul Care is a holistic approach to being an empathetic witness to what God is doing in the deep places of a person's heart.

Crossroads Counseling is about helping the helpers to live a healthy spirituality. They have developed an intensive model of inner restoration for ministry leaders in the mountain community of Buena Vista, Colorado. Surrounded by fourteen thousand foot peaks with the Arkansas River flowing down the valley, ministry leaders come from all over the country to spend time with Pete Kuiper for emotional and psychological challenges, and time with pastor Joe Chambers to work on rhythms and practices for the interior spiritual life.

On August 31, Thom Rainer wrote: “Please hear me clearly. The vast majority of pastors with whom our team communicates are saying they are considering quitting their churches. It’s a trend I have not seen in my lifetime. Some are just weeks away from making an announcement.” Soul weariness and being physically worn down will discourage the best of us. The great coach of the Green Bay Packers once said "Fatigue makes cowards of us all."

Both Joe and Pete will be available for Questions and Answers as well as individual time with participants as time allows.
